On occasion we have been asked whether the platform has an in-built plagiarism tool to compare candidate responses, either with other candidates or with known articles in circulation.
The simple answer to this is no and here’s why:
One of the ways in which we seek to mitigate bias in hiring, is by encouraging our users to build roles with ‘skill’ based questions rather than those designed to present ‘knowledge’. Knowledge on certain topics can be obtained via internet searches alone, so basing a hiring decision purely on a level of knowledge may not confirm the candidate is capable of doing the job.
Conversely, when building a role, hiring teams might be expressly looking for candidates with researching abilities. So they may, for example, ask candidates to conduct an internet based search on a topic to prove this.
If the platform then analyzed this response from a plagiarism perspective, candidates in this scenario could fall foul of such a tool, when in fact they have completed their task exactly as the hiring manager asked.
