Applied adheres to industry-wide accessibility standards for all of the the most widely used and accessed elements of the platform (the exception is Mapped and NST which are not yet accessible under the same standards). This means WCAG 2.1 AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) for all candidate-facing application flows, the user flow for reviewing candidate applications, and the interview scoring flow. The Applied design team works to make the platform usable by everyone (e.g. by ensuring there’s enough colour contrast and labelling components properly), and the technical team checks that these pages can be read by screen readers and assistive technology.
Beyond accessibility for on-screen elements, such as making sure that keyboard input is accepted without use of mouse, or allowing screen readers to transcribe any information written on the screen, candidates can contact Applied or the hiring team for any timed assessments requiring an extension.
The methodology that we follow to ensure accessibility, as set by the World Wide Web Consortium (the main international standards organisation for the World Wide Web), can be found here.
If you find an area that is unintuitive for use with a screen reader, please do reach out to the Applied team with your feedback- we’re always striving to improve our platform.
