You can use Applied’s platform to assess candidates’ take home tasks.
In this article you will learn how to -
- Create new tasks
- Request tasks from candidates
- Collect completed tasks
- Send tasks to your reviewers to score
- Collate scores
How to create a new Task
When building out your role, you will need to set up the scoring criteria required to assess your candidate’s take home task/file.
- Open up the role you wish to use and enter the Builder section
- Look for 'Hiring Stages' on the left hand menu and then click on 'Tasks'.
- A new option box will appear, click onto '+ Add work sample'.
- In the new work sample box, click on the downwards chevron.
- Next choose the button to 'Add/edit question'.
- Here you can decide to 'Add from the library' or 'Create from scratch'
You can set task questions, give instructions on portfolio pieces that you would like to see or even set a practical task like a deadline and details for a video project.
*If you haven't already done so at this point, you should add on the hiring team members you require to help you review all the work/tasks received later.
Requesting Tasks from Candidates
This is a simple action and is very similar to
- Make sure you are in the Manage section of your role and you can see your candidate table.
- Select candidates either individually or in batches. When candidates are chosen a blue menu will appear on the bottom of your screen. Next click on the 'Paper and Pencil' icon.
- A new menu page will pop-up, here you can select: the assessment, which email template will be used, as well as details on who the email should be sent from and when the task is due.
- You can also alter the main body of the email text, save this as a new template and email it to yourself to test out the process.
- When you're ready, just click 'Email Candidates'
Collating Tasks
When candidates send back their work via email or dropbox, you can save their work on your computer in any way you prefer. We recommend creating a Google Drive folder that can store all your candidates' work that is easily accessible for your entire reviewing team. This will also help you later when you need to attach work using hyperlinks in the step below.
Sending to Review
Once tasks have been sent back by candidates, you can allocate them to be reviewed in the same way as you would a Sift answer or CV.
Simply choose the candidate in 'Manage' and when the blue banner pops up, click on the 'eye' icon. Go through the pop-up selection page and choose Work Task, then confirm who you would like to review and how many times you would like the task to be scored. Then send invites to review.
Reviewers will receive an emailed link to complete this review.
Collating scores
All scores will be automatically saved to the platform and available to see in the 'Manage' area of the role, alongside each candidate and their previously attributed scores.
